TLDR

1. Create an inbox split by pinning a filter.

2. Inbox splits are added to the list of default labels that determine where a message will go.

Step by Step Guide

Filters

Use filters to, uh, filter your messages.

For example, here is a ‘VIPs’ filter that returns all messages from a list of teammates.

Inbox Splits

But what if you wanted to see these messages in a separate inbox split, like Important and Other?

Pin the filter to turn it into an inbox split so that it displays up at the top of your inbox, next to Important and Other.

Now you can easily [Tab] to it.

Each #channel has a default label

Pinned filters are added to the list of default labels that determine where a message will go. So if you wanted messages in the #shared-customer-channel to go to the VIP inbox split, you would select VIPs as #shared-customer-channel's default label in the settings modal.
